Vancouver Specialty Coffee Roasters
The bag of beans you're holding was carefully roasted and hand-packed just 3 days ago. Aroma anticipation kicks in. 42 grams of beans settle into the hopper just before the ceramic burrs crush them. You start the timer and tilt the gooseneck. A steady stream of water penetrates the coffee bed, forming a bloom of epic proportions. This is what your taste buds were waiting for.
We promise to provide you with only the freshest, air-roasted beans. Why? Because we're committed to elevating your coffee experience:
- We carefully air-roast all of our beans in small batches of just 1kg to maximize the flavour
- Each hand-packed bag of beans leaves our roastery within 48 hours to ensure freshness
Do all roasters do that? No, but we do because we recognize that there is only a short window of opportunity for you to get the most from your cup―between Day 3 and Day 14 after roasting. That’s what fresh is all about.
We promise to operate Goliath the way we want to―not just the way the industry tells us we should. We keep things simple by focusing on two mutually dependent concepts: Quality & Ethics. Together, those two words form a unstoppable combination that can change the lives of everyone involved: from the farmers and their families, to the coffee shops, the bakeries and the home brewers. The ethical path to quality is via collaboration and partnership.
At Goliath, we promise to empower, not exploit. We promise to focus on long-term relationships, not short-term profits. We promise to collaborate with the world's most dedicated farmers in order to bring the finest hand-picked beans to your cup. Now that’s ethically fresh.
The Goliath Coffee Team
Co-Founder | Roasting & Operations
For Andy, Goliath Coffee hits close to home. Born and raised on the Atlantic coast of Cameroon, he grew up close to the farmers he now collaborates with. Being bilingual, it was only natural that Andy's first stop in Canada was Montreal. He then headed to Halifax in search of a real Canadian winter. He found it and has since traded his shovel in for an umbrella.
He's a huge Boston Celtics fan and you can often catch him on the community courts around the city, working on his jump shot. When he’s not hunting for the ultimate burger, Andy loves to build and create. He might just take every course available at Makerlabs.
Andy understands that wherever you end up, you will always carry a piece of home with you.
